As the cloud market becomes more competitive and more businesses embrace AI, American cloud infrastructure provider Oracle is expanding its generative AI capabilities. The demand for cloud computing services and data centers is rising due to the AI boom, which is being driven by the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022. The reason is that the cloud provides users access to massive datasets necessary for training AI models.
Oracle has been adding generative AI capabilities to its cloud infrastructure and applications in addition to classical AI. Rondy Ng, executive vice president of applications development at Oracle, said, “Classical AI is very good in terms of detecting patterns or predicting numbers. But you cannot use large language models to predict numbers.”
In March, Oracle revealed new generative AI technologies integrated into apps for supply chain, finance, HR, sales, marketing, and service. According to Oracle officials, the generative AI capabilities may create job ads and financial reports, increasing productivity and cutting expenses for businesses.
According to a U.S. investment bank representative, Oracle could experience a rise in revenue and a favourable effect on its shares if it could secure a greater portion of the investment in artificial intelligence than anticipated. Some sources indicate that within the past 12 months, Oracle’s shares have increased by 23.74%.
Oracle announced in April that it aims to expand its cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Japan by spending over $8 billion over the next ten years. In March 2024, Oracle and Nvidia announced their partnership to provide global customers with sovereign AI solutions.
